What's the Difference? Single Origin vs. Micro Lot

Single Origin

Single Origin coffee is sourced from a single known geographical origin, such as a specific farm, region, or cooperative. This ensures a flavor profile unique to that particular location, often reflecting the soil, climate, and processing methods inherent to its birthplace. It offers traceability and a distinctive taste experience.

Micro Lot

A Micro Lot takes traceability and exclusivity a step further. It represents an even smaller, more precisely defined batch of coffee, perhaps from a single day's harvest, a specific varietal grown in a distinct section of a farm, or an exceptionally treated processing method. Known for its outstanding quality and often rare, intense, and unrepeatable flavor characteristics, micro lots are a true testament to the farmer's meticulous craft and dedication.

Roaster's Pick: The Guatemala Huehuetenango

This month, I'm captivated by the Guatemala Huehuetenango. Its incredible bright acidity and juicy stone fruit notes are a direct result of the meticulous washed processing method used by farmer Miguel Reyes. The high altitude and specific microclimate of the Huehuetenango region truly shine through every cup. It's a must-try for any fan of complex, fruit-forward coffees with a clean finish.
